Tyler Smith

Tyler Smith was born and raised in Portland, OR and grew up surrounded by music. As the son of a band director and grandson of another, a life of was music unavoidable. Having the benefit of wonderful public school music teachers and brilliant private bass teachers, Tyler not only has a great depth of understanding of music but relishes his role in any band.

After graduating college, Tyler went to work playing with anybody going anywhere. If it’s a swing, rock, country, Americana , gypsy jazz, blues, or a musical, Tyler will be ready.

In addition to being a capable sideman, Tyler has also spent years leading other projects like the Rock-tet, Groove Revelation, the Bundy Band, and the Famous Mashed Potatoes, all of which feature his original tunes.
